Exceeding Australian Security Standards
WE DON’T JUST MEASURE UP
Learn more about security standards
(Australian Standard AS5039-2008 & AS5041-2003)
SupaScreen® Stainless Steel and IntrudaGuard® Aluminium security products are subjected to a rigorous regime of impact tests, jemmy attacks and pull testing under this standard, to ensure that the inherent strength and structural integrity of the manufactured security product is maintained.
(Australian Standard AS5041)
The dynamic impact test was created to imitate an intruder attempting to kick, shoulder or otherwise force their way through the screen. The accepted and standardised test to replicate this is ve 100 joule impacts (Energy).
Knife Shear Test
(Australian Standard AS5039-2008 & AS5041-2003)
SupaScreen® Stainless Steel and IntrudaGuard® Aluminium security products are tested for material hardness and tensile strength by subjecting the mesh to a standardised physical cutting attack, which draws a knife over the mesh a number of times.
Performance Testing – Single Impact
(Australian Standard AS1170.2-2002, Clause 5.3.2)
Amplimesh® SupaScreen® products have been proven to not only withstand the Australian Standard impact requirements of 5 × 100J impacts, but also additional singular impact performance testing of up to 3200J.
Fire Attenuation Test
(Australian Standard AS1530.4-2005, Appendix B7)
SupaScreen® Stainless Steel security products have been tested in general accordance with this standard and when exposed to incident radiant heat SupaScreen® achieves a 41% reduction in the radiant heat ux between the inside and outside of the product.
(Australian Standard AS3959-2009)
When used in conjunction with a compliant bush re window or door AS1530.8.1/2-2007 SupaScreen Stainless Steel security products satisfy the screening requirements for all bush re attack levels up to and including BAL-FZ (Flame Zone). SupaScreen® offers excellent protection from ember attack, reduces radiant heat and will protect glass from the impact of burning debris.
Cyclone Missile Impacts
(Australian Standard AS1170.2-2011)
In cyclonic regions glazed windows and doors may need to be protected from flying debris. SupaScreen® Stainless Steel security products have been tested to resist a 4kg, 100mm x 50mm timber traveling at 34m/s red from an air canon. The screen is then shot an additional five times with 8mm steel ball bearings, shot into the screen at the same speed.
Amplimesh® Fall Prevention Technology
(Australian Standard AS5203-2016)
Amplimesh® Fall Prevention Technology keeping you safe. The National Construction Code requires the protection of window openings in bedrooms that are located within 1700mm of the internal finished floor level and where the external fall externally is greater than 2 meters.
Openings in all other rooms that are located within 895mm of the internal finished floor level and where the fall externally is greater than 4 meters will also need to be protected.
The protection of window opening can be achieved with an Amplimesh® SupaScreen® or IntrudaGuard® fixed window screen that has been proven to meet the testing requirements of Australian Standard AS5203-2016.

Produced with only the highest quality materials and rigorously tested at our NATA approved facility Amplimesh® SupaScreen® security screens are designed to withstand even the most aggressive would-be intruder, and everything nature can throw at them to boot.
For over 50 years, Amplimesh® security doors and window screens have been tested in some of Australia’s harshest climactic conditions including surpassing an 8000hrs acetic acid salt spray milestone, an equivalent of over 25 years of usage.
Amplimesh® security screens are assembled into high quality door and window frames using our Amplimesh® patented ‘pressure fit’ mesh retaining system technology. This system prevents the door frame material from coming into contact with the stainless steel or aluminium security screens, thereby resisting galvanic corrosion and increasing the overall lifespan of your security screen product.
The Amplimesh® ‘pressure fit’ system uses no glue and has no visible fixings, giving your door/window a designer look and feel. No screws or clamps penetrate through the face of the security screen mesh, keeping the face of your security screen uncompromised. A dual purpose PVC ‘wrap around’ pressure fit co-extrusion allows for mesh retention and provides the ultimate protection from dissimilar metals coming into contact.
The finishes that are applied to Amplimesh® products are of high quality and are extremely durable and weather resistant. Like all fixtures around the home some maintenance is required to preserve the original appearance of the product.
Surfaces should be kept clean by prompt removal of all dust, dirt, grime and any foreign matter using clean water and a small amount of mild detergent. Do not under any circumstances use any abrasive type cleaning agent (Ajax or similar) or cleaning material (such as steel wool) as it will damage the anodised surface. Thoroughly wash off any residue of detergent with clean water.
Deposited grime absorbs moisture and holds it against the powder coated surface, damaging the coating. Surfaces should be kept clean by prompt removal of all dust, dirt, grime and any foreign matter using a soft sponge with clean water and a small amount of mild detergent. Thoroughly wash off any residue of detergent with clean water to avoid deterioration of the coating which will occur as a result of soap deposition. Do not under any circumstances use any abrasive type cleaning agent (Ajax or similar). If small scratches occur, they can be buffed out using a good quality car polish. Care must be taken to ensure the coated surface is not removed.
Frequency of cleaning is largely dependent on the location of the building. In most circumstances cleaning may be carried out every 3–4 months. Amplimesh® products installed close to more severe conditions, such as marine or industrial environments, should be cleaned every 2–4 weeks.
We’re so sure of the quality of our SupaScreen® security doors and window screens that we’ve backed them by a comprehensive 16 year warranty. As with all commercial warranties, your Amplimesh® security screen product must be cared for with regular cleaning and maintenance.
