Amplimesh enhances indooroutdoor living for this prestigious home

Melbourne suburb Kew is known for its leafy streets, grand houses and strong architectural heritage, making it one of the city’s most prestigious residential pockets.

In the heart of Kew sits a refined twostorey residence that blends French-influenced charm with contemporary Australian design. Its earth-toned rendered façade, with clean lines and subtle texture, exudes understated elegance. Large French doors, framed by climbing vines, open onto a tranquil alfresco garden, filling the home with light, air, and a sense of serene sophistication

The home’s defining feature is its seamless indoor-outdoor connection. Three sets of French doors open onto a leafy front courtyard, while additional doors link the living areas to the rear garden and upper balcony, creating a natural flow throughout. To fully embrace the way the home was designed, the owners love throwing open every door, inviting in fresh air, light and a sense of spaciousness. Yet while this openness was central to their living, feeling safe and secure was equally important.

After a breakin on their street, the couple began reassessing how secure they felt in their home.

“There was a burglary down the street,” Owner, Richard said. “That obviously had an impact and we wanted to feel safe, especially at night. But we also wanted a solution that didn’t take away from the character and look of the house.”

The couple decided on the Amplimesh SupaScreen, a premium 316 marinegrade stainless steel security mesh known for its strength, transparency and architectural versatility.

Richard said the strength and security of the product was the crucial factor in deciding to go with Amplimesh, along with the natural ventilation and sleek design.

“I don’t like airconditioning,” he says. “In summer, we open the doors and windows and let the breeze come through – Amplimesh lets us do that safely. We can also sleep with the doors open and still feel completely secure.”

This lifestyledriven approach to security is becoming increasingly important in luxury homes. Natural ventilation reduces reliance on cooling systems, supports wellbeing and creates a more comfortable living environment – but only when homeowners feel safe enough to embrace it.

Installed by Nivek Group Fabricator Aaron Kryger, the system now protects eight sets of French doors, an upstairs balcony, and several gardenfacing openings all without interrupting the home’s graceful façade.

Nivek Group Fabricator Aaron Kryger said he suggested Supascreen when the couple requested a premium product that provided security, comfort and refinement to match the rest of the home.

“With French doors, you need a solution that mimics the look and doesn’t add bulk. SupaScreen is slimline, transparent and incredibly strong,” Kryger said. “It gives you security plus a clean, uninterrupted view.”

Every door in the home is fitted with a triplelocking system, allowing all three locking points to engage simultaneously with a single key turn. The screens also selfclose, adding convenience to the security benefits.

“The main advantages are security, airflow and functionality,” Kryger said. “You get the strength of marinegrade steel, the ease of use, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing the doors are almost impossible to force open.”

Despite the scale of the installation, Kryger said the process was smooth and efficient.

“We delivered everything in two weeks,” Aaron said. “The client was very happy. It was painless and the screens blended perfectly with the home.”

The result is a residence where security enhances, rather than interrupts, the architecture. The French doors retain their elegance, the alfresco garden remains visible through the fine mesh, and the home’s natural ventilation is now a daily pleasure rather than a risk.

Amplimesh’s 16year warranty and rigorous Australian Standards testing were also key factors in the decision. For Richard, the reassurance was immediate.

“The security aspect was extremely important,” Richard said. “The doors give us peace of mind. It’s a really sensible approach, and I’d definitely recommend it to other homeowners.

“We feel secure, we feel comfortable, and we can enjoy the house the way it was meant to be lived in – that’s real peace of mind.”
