How to Claim WA Seniors Security Rebate

The WA Seniors Security Rebate allows Western Australian Seniors Card members to claim up to $400 per household towards purchasing eligible home security or safety items, including home security, fire safety or electrical safety items.

Under the $12 million program to enhance community safety and resilience, as part of the 2021-22 State Budget, Western Australian Seniors Card members can now claim up to $400 per household towards the purchase of Amplimesh® Security Products, including SupaScreen® and IntrudaGuard®.

As part of the State Government’s investment in community safety to help keep senior Western Australians safe, Premier Mark McGowan described the WA Seniors Card Security Rebate as “an important program that gives older Western Australians a helping hand to improve their home security systems.”

“My Government’s strong focus on responsible financial management has given us the capacity to restore this important program after it was abolished in 2015.

“I encourage eligible Western Australians to make use of the rebate to protect themselves and their loved ones.

“By establishing Elder Rights WA, we are ensuring Western Australia has a dedicated advocacy service to provide advice and representation to older people in our communities who may be experiencing elder abuse.”

Seniors and Ageing Minister Don Punch remarked, “Every Western Australian deserves to feel safe and have peace of mind in their homes, and this is especially so for our seniors – and the Safety and Security Rebate is an investment in keeping our seniors safe.”

Claiming Your Safety and Security Rebate

The WA Seniors Card Centre administers the security rebate for Seniors in WA, with more information available by calling 1800 671 233 or visiting the website directly. To meet the Safety and Security Rebate requirements, items purchased must meet the relevant Australian Standards. A licensed tradesperson must carry out any installation work required.

The entire range of Amplimesh® security screens and doors are rigorously tested to ensure they meet all relevant Australian and Industry standards, including the Security Testing Australian Standards (AS5039-2008 & AS5041-2003). We also assess compliance in bushfire-prone areas, cyclone missile impact and fire attenuation applications.
